What an astonishing start for the new Government! The old people will freeze to death this winter whilst Starmer send Billions of ££££’s abroad in ‘foreign aid’ to countries richer than us and more Billions abroad for the climate change agenda. A lot of people feel cheated by the new PM. The public feel we should be ‘looking after our own’ before looking after anyone else and rightly so. We have a clear and present homelessness problem which Starmer and his colleagues think they can fix by making rules and regulations which ultimately just put investors off being landlords, the risk is too great for them with incoming legislation including the outlawing of ‘no fault’ evictions. Great Britain has a tragic knife crime epidemic which is not being dealt with. Our town centres are dying and our roads are riddled with potholes.

If the foregoing wasn’t bad enough the new worker legislation is freezing investment. Employers are nervous about taking on staff who can choose their own work location, ignore ‘out of hours’ calls and emails and decide to compress their hours into a four day week. All very virtuous but again the problem is that the changes stifle investment. Only big firms can afford to partake in the Labour’s New World of rules and regulations, the negative effects of which have not been thought through. A good example is the idea of VAT on private school fees, ok some money will be raised but will it be offset by the number of extra State School places required to teach the children who’s parents can no longer afford private education.

Starmer has made himself very unpopular. My fear is that we will lose entrepreneurs to other countries and their taxes will go to other jurisdictions. You cannot clamp down on freedom of speech and the middle classes without adverse effects.

Where will we end up? A vote of ‘no confidence’ in the Government? Mass non-compliance?

Hopefully there will be secure jobs for those who want them. Maybe employers will want to hire more temporary staff while the new laws have their details ‘fleshed out’.

Keep the faith, Britain will be ok, we are a resilient, entrepreneurial bunch!
